About Me

For over two decades, crafting documents of the highest quality has been my passion. Following that passion has taken me in fascinating, diverse directions, including

  • Creating words for an exciting variety of clients – from Fortune 500 companies to small, home-grown firms – over a range of industries
  • Writing and editing for books, newspapers, and magazines with national and international reach
  • Teaching writing at one of the world's premier learning institutions – and to local audiences, too

"My career in the Army has made on-time excellence a hallmark of my professional life."

My work has represented financial firms, tech companies, educational institutions, and more – in a variety of formats, from white papers to website articles to marketing copy. This success with corporate clients flows directly from a finely-tuned ear for language, a love of learning, and a single-minded commitment to excellence.

My diverse formal education (a BS in mechanical engineering from West Point, an MS in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and a University of Texas at Austin MA in philosophy) has prepared me to understand complex technical topics and make them understandable for a general audience. Speaking of education: another important part of my preparation for this job was a three-year stint as an Assistant Professor of English and writing instructor at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

I’ve written for the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and more – see the Samples tab for details. I’m happy to show you examples of work I’ve done for clients, too. Just ask!

Sometimes the words you already have just need some polish…I do that, too. I honed my editing skills preparing a book (with two co-editors) for the State University of New York Press. A few years later, I did the same job singlehandedly for US Army North, compiling and editing its 200-page book of unit business rules. Since then, I’ve helped plenty of clients modify their existing copy with everything from a little light proofreading to significant restructuring.

My 21-year career in the Army has made on-time excellence a hallmark of my professional life. Having possessed a US Government Top Secret clearance on active duty, I can assure perfect confidentiality. I have over two decades of experience in working with people to craft solutions within set timeframes, so you don’t have to worry about late or inadequate work, either.
